Sarah Palin Responds To Fox News Chief Who Said She Had No Chance Of Being President
Sarah Palin had no chance to be president.
That was the verdict delivered by Fox News Chief Roger Ailes as he gave a speech at the University of North Carolina early last week.
However, Palin has now fired back at Ailes in an interview with Breitbart.com, warning Ailes against underestimating her. I mean, yeah, this is a woman whos been governor of the 47th most populous state in America for a full 18 months. Shes obviously a totally suitable choice for being leader of the free world:
I wonder if [Ailes] is aware that the same thing was said about me when I ran for city council, mayor, and eventually governor. No doubt many people who are told they cant do something will work that much harder, and they succeed.
She then referenced The Undefeated, the documentary recently made about her, telling her interviewer:
The theme of Steves film isnt about me, but about the idea of not letting others dictate ones path in life and never giving up when youre fighting for something precious like our exceptional nation and our childrens futures. So, would you send a copy of The Undefeated to him?
Ailes has reportedly criticized Palin before in a 2011 story for New York magazine, a Republican source claimed Ailes believed Palin wasan idiot and stupid. Fox News later questioned the validity of the quotes.
Anyway, Ailes explained himself on Friday, revealing how his comments had been taken out of context:
Whe n I hired most of the Republican contributors, none of them had any immediate prospects of becoming President I wasnt referring to any of their long-term prospects, including Governor Palin. I hired all of them because they made for good television at the time. Sarah Palin is young and nobody can predict the future.
