The Today Show

Palin reads a lot of newspapers, and gets a lot of ratings, too.

Infiltrating the lamestream lifestyle segments with Tori Spelling, the lamestream segments on raising your teenage daughter and the lamestream just-what-is-wrong-with-Oprah discussions apparently garners ratings.

Sarah Palin bumped up the NBC "Today" show's morning ratings with her appearance on Tuesday morning, beating the "perky one" Katie Couric as well.

According to the Nielsen Co.'s Fast National Data, Palin's appearance pulled in 5.497 million viewers, including2.209 million in the key 25-54 age demographic. That's higher than Couric's second day co-hosting ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, which drew 5.141 million viewers and 1.917 in the key age demographic.

Palin, of course, suffered a big hit on her image after a disastrous interview with Couric in 2008, when she was John McCain's vice presidential nominee.

So she enjoyed her ratings victoryjust a little bit. Here's part of her email to Zap2it.com:

"And, frankly, I'm ecstatic we beat the 'perky one,' although I wouldn't have gone up against ABC's vacationing Robin Roberts, because she's such a good egg. By the way, both Robin and Matt Lauer have traveled the long journey to Alaska and dealt with unglamoro! us, rugg ed conditions to see more of our world; they've shown respect for a more unconventional Americana lifestyle, and we appreciate that."

She also appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox News show on Tuesday night (hope she took a nap during the day) and recapped her appearance. These two really enjoyed doing this.

For example, during Palin's sit-down interview with Matt Lauer, she tells him that whoever Mitt Romney picks as a vice presidential nominee is going to get "clobbered by the lamestream media who does not like the conservative message." According to Sean Hannity, who has studied every single word ever spoken by man, "no truer words have ever been spoken."

Then Hannity asked her if she "knew" that Katie Couric was on Good Morning America alongside her.

"It wasn't just a coincidence that I was on this morning up against some competition down the plaza," Palin said.

She was also asked about her interview with Lauer, and said that she has had worse. "With questions like, 'What do you read up there in Alaska?'" Of course, that's a reference to her interview with Palin.
