Sarah Palin Cashes in on Secret Service Sex Flap

COMMENTARY | Sarah Palin has been "drawn into" the recent sex scandal involving Secret Service agents in Colombia. That's what ABC News calls it.

I say Palin wasn't drawn in, she thrust herself in. She's cashing in on the incident, ragging on David Chaney, one of the two agents caught en flagrante and pontificating about President Barack Obama to boot.

Palin, in an interview with Greta Van Susteren on Fox News, chafed Chaney over sexual innuendos he made about her. On patrol during the 2008 campaign, Chaney commented on a Facebook photo of himself and Palin, saying he was "checking her out."

Chaney's behavior then was tacky and repugnant and Palin has every right to rub his present antics in his face. Her vent was a bit confusing, but most of what she says is. Speaking of Chaney, Palin said, "I hope his wife kicks his ocoli and sends him to the doghouse, as long as he's not eating the dog, along with his former boss." (An aside: Not knowing what an "ocoli" is, I looked it up. It's Romanian ! for "det our." I guess "ocoli" might have been a misspell, because another source used "okole," which a blogger explained is Hawaiian for rear-end (but not much used in common parlance). I guess it's another Palinism like "refudiate." What Palin means by "not eating the dog," I haven't a clue.)

As for Palin dragging the president into the Secret Service debacle, that's opportunistic. Palin said of the incident: "It's a symptom of government run amok, though. And it's, like, you know, who's minding the store around here?"

Faulting President Obama for not guarding his bodyguards? I thought Palin objected to the government being a "nanny state?" Now government officials must nanny other grown officials? That's unfair.

Palin continued, "When it comes to this particular issue of Secret Service, again, playing with the taxpayer's dime and playing with prostitutes and checking out those whom they are guarding. You know, the president, for one, he better be wary there of -- when Secret Service is accompanying his family on vacation. They may be checking out the first lady instead of guarding her." That's reasonable, but methinks the lady is mostly just grinding her personal ax with Chaney and pushing her agenda. And taxing our brains as we try to navigate her syntactical gymnastics.
