UPI/Steve Pope License photo Published: Aug. 31, 2012 at 7:32 PM NEW YORK, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Sarah Palin used Facebook as a platform to vent about Fox News canceling her network appearance Wednesday during the Republican National Convention in Florida. "I'm sorry Fox cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight because I sure wanted to take the opportunity on the air to highlight Senator John McCain's positive contributions to America, to honor him, and to reflect on what a biased media unfairly put him through four years ago tonight," the Facebook post reads. New York Magazine said the post revealed a rocky relationship between the network and the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate. Palin and Fox are in the early stages of contract negotiations and the magazine's sources say Fox executives have be

The Paul Ryan and Sarah Palin comparison

With a no-nonsense tone, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan embraced his role as Barack Obama's top agitator -- and Mitt Romney's chief defender. TAMPA, Fla. When Mitt Romney was searching for a ticket mate, Republicans pleaded: Don't pick another Sarah Palin. So it may come as a surprise that, in at least one important way, he ended up doing precisely that with Paul D. Ryan. Like Palin four years ago, the Wisconsin congressman has captured the heart of the Republican convention. The thunderous response to his speech Wednesday night was the latest indication. There are clearly distinctions between Ryan's national experience, policy expertise and temperament, and hers. That he was a Washington insider was apparent from his references to working in the capital with Jack Kemp, a conservative hero from the Reagan era. Sarah Palin claims "90% 'lamestream' media in tank for Obama"

Washington, Aug 31 ( ANI ): Sarah Palin has said that a whopping 90 percent of the "lamestream media" is "in the tank" for President Barack Obama . "They've been proven over and over again, 90 percent of them being in the tank for Obama . What they will try to portray and relay to voters is based on falsehoods," Politico quoted Palin, as saying. She claimed that American voters need to "do their own homework" before the election so they don't buy into everything his campaign is publicizing. "So, everybody just needs to hang onto their hats and make sure voters are doing their own homework. Don't believe what you hear in that lamestream media," she said. Palin claimed that she expects that the negative tone of the campaign to "get even worse" in the coming months, thanks to the Democratic Party and "their lapdogs" in the media. "The Democrats and their lapdogs in the progressive liberal media will s

Paul Ryan not nearly the TV draw Sarah Palin was

NEW YORK (AP) - As a Republican National Convention speaker, vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan isn't nearly as much of a draw as Sarah Palin. The Nielsen ratings company said an estimated 21.9 million people watched GOP convention coverage Wednesday night over nine networks. The marquee event was Ryan's acceptance speech as Mitt Romney's running mate. More than 40 million people watched Palin's acceptance speech at the 2008 convention. Nielsen estimated an audience of 37.2 million in 2008 for all the networks except PBS, which pegged its audience at 3.9 million based on a slightly less complete Nielsen sample. For the second night in a row, Fox News Channel had more viewers than anyone else covering the convention Wednesday. Fox had 7.7 million viewers during the 10 p.m. EDT hour, when all the networks were competing. NBC had 4.1 million, ABC 2.9 million, CBS 2.6 million, MSNBC 1.4 million and CNN 1.3 million. Ryan, 42, did give a slight bump to the young viewership

Sarah Palin alludes that Fox News cancelled interviews

Image
(CNN) Sarah Palin posted a cryptic message on Facebook Wednesday night, saying the Fox News Channel had cut her appearances for the evening. Im sorry Fox cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight because I sure wanted to take the opportunity on the air to highlight Senator John McCains positive contributions to America, to honor him, and to reflect on what a biased media unfairly put him through four years ago tonight, she wrote. Palin, who served as McCains 2008 vice presidential nominee, did not explain why Fox had scratched her off their rundown. The former governor has been a pundit on the channel since early 2010, less than a year after she stepped down from her post as governor of Alaska. Reports of tension between the conservative firebrand and the network emerged in November, when New York Magazine reported the networks president, Roger Ailes, was furious that Palin had announced her decision against running for president on another media outlet. Palin first made her decis

Seriously, Paul Ryan's no Palin

WITH MEMORIES of Sarah Palin looming over his Tampa podium, Rep. Paul Ryan wants America to know two things. He's serious. And his top-of-the-ticket mate, Mitt Romney, is pretty serious, too. "Before the math and the momentum overwhelm us all, we are going to solve this nation's economic problems," Ryan said Wednesday night in accepting the 2012 Republican nomination for vice president. "And I'm going to level with you: We don't have that much time. But if we are serious, and smart, and we lead, we can do this." And the Wisconsin Republican and House Budget Committee chairman doubled down on Romney: "His whole life has prepared him for this moment - to meet serious challenges in a serious way, without excuses and idle words," he told cheering delegates in bringing the second night of the hurricane-truncated GOP confab to a close. Ryan may have been serious - but he wasn't specific. Keeping within the spirit of the Tampa convention as we

Sarah Palin Ditched By Fox News, Interviews Cancelled During RNC

Image
Sarah Palin isnt receiving the type of love from Fox News she came to expect during the 2008 Republican National Convention. The former TV star and John McCains presidential running mate revaeled on Wednesday that Fox News cut her out of the RNC interview cycle. On her Facebook page, the only media outlet she has at the moment, Palin wrote: Im sorry Fox canceled all my scheduled interviews tonight because I sure wanted to take the opportunity on the air to highlight Senator John McCains positive contributions to America, to honor him, and to reflect on what a biased media unfairly put him through four years ago tonight. Granted, our honored and esteemed war hero has gone through much more than the liberal media can ever do to him in their efforts to harm this patriot. I look forward to hearing his words to his fellow Americans tonight more than any of the other convention speeches. God bless John McCain. Thank you for everything. And happy birthday, my friend. Sarah Palin: 'Sorry' Fox News canceled my appearances

Image
TAMPA, FLa. -- Sarah Palin has seemed content to sit out the big Republican show here this week. She campaigned earlier in the week in Arizona for GOP House candidates and said she was happy to leave the limelight to others, four years after her star turn at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn. But Palin clearly figured she would have at least one brief moment connected to the 2012 convention and that it would come Wednesday, when U.S. Sen. John McCain , her running mate, got his chance to speak to the party gathering. It didnt happen. Palin said via Facebook: Im sorry Fox cancelled all my scheduled interviews tonight because I sure wanted to take the opportunity on the air to highlight Senator John McCains positive contributions to America, to honor him, and to reflect on what a biased media unfairly put him through four years ago tonight. It was unclear exactly how much air time the former Alaska governor expected to grab, but shes a fairly regular contributor, part

Luxurious Tampa house sparks Sarah Palin rumours at GOP convention

Is this the house Sarah Palin would stay in if she makes a last-minute appearance in Tampa? The rumour was tantalizing, so we checked it out. Sarah Palin is not in Tampa , but the former governor of Alaska still exerts a seemingly hypnotic pull on Republicans and Democrats alike. And whether she inspires you or enrages you, people cant quite bring themselves to believe that the Republican convention will be a Palin-free event. Ryan, Palin Not So Different After All

Image
Four years ago today, when Sen. John McCain of Arizona confirmed that he had picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate, the reaction across the country indeed, in many newsrooms was about the same: "Sarah Who?" There was some debate about how to pronounce "Palin." Is it a soft or hard "a," someone asked. Reporters started making calls. Mitt Romney's decision to add Rep. Paul Ryan to this year's ticket came as a bit of a surprise, too. Analysts keeping close watch on the "veepstakes" might have had him on their lists, but he was hardly a favorite. By late Friday night, Aug. 10, that had changed. After a few days of whispers that a decision was near and that Ryan could, indeed, be the guy, the Romney campaign made it official. Paul Ryan would be the vice presidential nominee. No one asked how to say his name. After 14 years in Washington, the Wisconsin congressman, 42, has more than a record; he has a brand.

Sarah Palin Pushes for Convention-Floor Fight

A convention-floor fight might still be brewing in Tampa. Fla., over a proposed Republican Party rule on delegates. Some Republican National Committee members were up in arms Monday about a proposed rule that would weaken states' control of who gets to attend future national conventions as voting delegates. While primaries typically determine how many delegate votes candidates will receive, states typically meet later to fill out those delegate rosters. A new rule would allow presidential candidates to veto those choices. Republican National Committeeman Jim Bopp , who had led the movement against the rule, reached a compromise with other RNC members Monday, but some of his fellow partisans have rejected it, according to internal emails obtained by ABC News. Fanning the flames, Sarah Palin posted to her Facebook page urging Republican National Committee members to revolt against the proposed rule, which was supported by backers of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt R

Sarah Palin to serve up BBQ in Gilbert

GILBERT, AZ - At least one well-known Republican will not be at the Republican National Convention. Former GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be in Gilbert on Monday, campaigning for 5th District Congressional candidate Kirk Adams. Adams is running against former representative and gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon. Palin and Adams will be at Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert starting at 3:30 p.m. The event will include live music and a family BBQ. Adams and Palin will be serving food as a way of saying "thank you" for all the support and encouraging people to get out and vote, according to a news release. Adams was endorsed by Palin earlier this month. Palin says she chose the Gilbert restaurant after seeing it featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."Adams says Palin wants to keep speeches under 10 minutes so she can meet guests, according to KSAZ-TV. Sarah Palin still grabs limelight, even away from GOP convention

Image
When the Republican National Convention kicks off Monday in Tampa , the star of the 2008 GOP gathering, Sarah Palin , will be 2,000 miles away in Arizona, campaigning for congressional candidates. But don't bet against the former Alaska governor finding a bit of the limelight anyway. Palin will be in little Gilbert, Ariz., helping serve up barbecue Monday afternoon alongside congressional hopeful Kirk Adams and later stumping for a couple of incumbent Republican congressmen, Jeff Flake and Paul Gosar . If Palin will miss being at the big dance with Mitt Romney and other Republicans in Florida, she showed no sign of it in a Fox News interview Saturday. She chatted merrily about her plans for the coming days, in the familiar sing-song cadences (and run-on, mu! lticlaus e sentences) that became her trademark in 2008. INTERACTIVE MAP: Tally up the battleground states Im making sure to get out there around the country, Palin said, and sometimes supporting underdogs those that a

Five things to watch at the Republican Convention

Will Hurricane Isaac , Sarah Palin , or Joe Biden be the biggest gate crasher at the GOP convention in Tampa ? And who could steal the show as a speaker? Heres a brief look at what could be a wild week in Tampa . 1. Whats up with potential Hurricane Isaac ? The current Tropical Storm Isaac is heading toward the Gulf of Mexico after cruising over Cuba and possibly hitting southern Florida this weekend. The only experts who are as occasionally off-base as political pundits are meteorologists, so the drama over Isaac could linger into Monday. If you are a weather geek, the smart money is on the European model over the GFS model, but the two popular weather predictors seem close to agreeing that Isaac is likely heading toward the area of western Floridas border with Alabama. Tampa will be affected but a convention washout isnt likely. 2. Who is the biggest gate crasher? That would seem to be Vice President Joe Biden, who was scheduled to lead rallies in Tampa on Monday and Tuesday, at
