Gingrich: Sarah Palin was right on death panels (Debate video)
When Sarah Palin announced she wouldnt run for president, she vowed that she would still be a part of the conversation and throw her weight behind favored candidates as she continued to act as a kingmaker for the tea party.
In a previous debate, Michele Bachmann picked up Palins crony capitalism label to attack Perry. And in Tuesdays Washington Post/Bloomberg debate, Newt Gingrich turned the clock back to the summer of 2009, dusting off the notorious term death panels, another phrase coined by Palin during the controversial health-care overhaul.
Asked about the Medicare spending in the last two years of someones life, and whether it amounts to wasteful spending and whether there should be some government intervention, Gingrich plugged Palin.
So, if you ask me, do I want some Washington bureaucrat to create a class action decision which affects every Americans last two years of life. Not ever, he said.
I think it is a disaster. I think, candidly, Governor Palin got attacked unfairly for describing what would, in effect, be death panels.
