Pictured: (l-r) Front row: Nick Lachey, Dean Cain; Standing: Terry Crews, Picabo Street, Eve Torres, Todd Palin; On top: Laila Ali, Dolvett Quince. (NBC - CHRIS HASTON/NBC) Sarah Palin husband Todd is among those competing in NBCs new reality series Stars Earns Stripes, the network has revealed Tuesday. This is not entirely surprising, given that SES exec producer Mark Burnett also exec produced Sarah Palins TLC reality series Sarah Palins Alaska and, late last year, word around Hollywood was that Sarah Palin and Burnett were now pitching a reality series about Todds career as a championship snowmobile racer. Apparently there were no takers. Maybe more surprising, General Wesley Clark, the former Supreme Allied Commander Europe for NATO and 2004 presidential candidate, is going to go-host the show with Entertainment Tonight and Dancing with the Stars alum Samantha Harris. Well give you a moment to mull that pairing. The generals legendary record in the U.S. armed forces commands re...

Review: 'Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp' unleashes steady grumbling

The unreality of reality television meets the unreliable narratives of the Palin Saga in a new series, " Bristol Palin : Life's a Tripp." Premiering Tuesday on Lifetime , into whose Woman Against the Odds ethos it vaguely fits, it follows the young mother and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant from Alaska to Los Angeles and, indications are, back again with her toddler son in tow. Given her visibility over the last four years, I assume Palin has fans of her own, apart from any interest they might have in her media star mother, Sarah, who shows up here to dispense advice ("Work hard, be humble and take risks") and play referee. They may be simply happy for her company. But anyone expecting an unvarnished, unmeditated look at her life or any substantial take on the challenges it represents, or seems to her child-care issues stem from not wanting to hire "some random baby-sitter," not from a lack of wherewithal will be disappointed. Sarah Palin Talks about the Birth of Citizen Journalism Started by Matt Drudge

In Oscar Wildes A Few Maxims For The Instruction Of The Over-Educated , his collection of smirk-inducing aphorisms published in 1894, the erudite wordsmith wrote, In old days books were written by men of letters and read by the public. Nowadays books are written by the public and read by nobody. Where else than on the internet could this lament be more appropriately applied? I dont take Wildes sentiment as academic elitism so much as a caveat to be more discerning with whom we decide to validate with our attention and approval, especially as more people gain access to the publics ear thanks to the internet. In essence, we must be active listeners instead of a passive audience indistinguishable from mildewy sink sponges just waiting to sop up whatever gets poured over us. Keeping that tenet in mind, former Vice Presidential candidate and mama grizzly-in-chief Sarah Palin recently gave the keynote address to the RightOnline 2012 conference about the birth of citizen journalism, crediting...

Sarah Palin gives a pep talk to conservative bloggers at the Right Online conference

LAS VEGAS -- It was a rousing pep talk for a ballroom full of conservative bloggers, and a tribute to a fallen compadre Friday evening, as Sarah Palin honored the memory of the late Internet entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart and told an annual gathering of conservative new media that they fill a vital role in the nations political discourse. In some ways, Palins 35-minute speech was also a vintage performance, her sing-song voice rising and falling as she also castigated and mocked the lamestream media, accusing it of failing to vet then-candidate Barack Obama in 2008 and of promulgating rumors about her personal life, which still seem to get under her skin. You do what the old media cant or wont do, and thats tell the truth, said Palin, who remains a hero of the tea-party right despite her withdrawal from the arena of electoral office. I have learned in the last four years or so, it doesnt do any good to personally complain about the untruths told by the old media. I might as well sav...

Palin to headline RightOnline conference in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada (CNN) - What happens in Vegas will not stay there this weekend as legions of Internet-savvy conservatives, including Sarah Palin, plot and share strategies for better competing with liberals in the digital sphere. The former Alaska governor is just one of many to attend the fifth annual RightOnline conference in Las Vegas. The gathering will feature brand-name conservative figures rallying the masses and Internet activists hoping to maximize their political efforts on social media like Twitter and Facebook. Some attendees will learn how to use Twitter and Facebook for the first time. The overall goal is to attempt to compete with the liberal and Democrat-aligned collection of bloggers and new media activists who have dominated political activism in the digital sphere, organizers say. In the last presidential election, Democrats were widely viewed as having an edge over Republicans in using the Internet to their political advantage. "Over the years, RightOnline ha...

Man files suit against Bristol Palin

Bristol Palin sued by Saddle Ranch bar heckler A Los Angeles man who launched an expletive-laden tirade against Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, has filed a lawsuit against the Lifetime Network alleging he was taped for her reality show without his knowledge or consent. In a federal lawsuit, Stephen Hanks seeks general and punitive damages, saying he's a victim of defamation and invasion of privacy after video aired of the heated confrontation. Hanks alleges he wasn't told the film crew at a West Hollywood bar in September was shooting footage for the reality show "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp." The show will follow the single mother for 14 half-hour episodes and begins airing next week. In recently released video from the upcoming show, Hanks heckles Bristol Palin while watching her ride a mechanical bull at the bar, yelling out, "Your mother's a whore." After Palin confronted the man over the insult, their conversation grew heated and he calle...
