Bristol Palin sued for defamation

Bristol Palin, daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, was sued Wednesday by a man for defamation.

Stephen Hanks insulted both Palin and her mother at a Los Angeles bar in 2011. This incident was filmed and included in Palins upcoming reality series for the Lifetime network. He has also sued the network for not asking for permission to be filmed.

Hanks, a talent manager, saw Palin in the Saddle Ranch bar and shouted that her mother was "evil" and a "whore."

"Is it because you're a homosexual?" was her reply. "Because I can tell you are."

Hanks later stated that Palin invaded his privacy and caused emotional distress by questioning his sexuality.

Palin later insulted Hanks by claiming that their run-in was the reason she left L.A. She purchased a home in Alaska in July.

"Bristol Palin's conduct was outrageous," the lawsuit read. "Bristol Palin first accused Plaintiff of 'being a homosexual' in a degrading manner in front of others ... she then in a magazine article blamed Plaintiff for her decision to leave Los Angeles for Alaska even though she had purchased her home in Alaska ... more than two months before the encounter.

Her show, Lifes a Tripp, focuses on her stay in L.A. with her son Tripp, 3, and her return to Alaska. It is set to air June 19.
