On The Five, Sarah Palin Takes On Health Care Ruling, Bob Beckel And George Stephanopoulos

video by Noah Rothman | 6:00 pm, June 29th, 2012 Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appeared on Fox News Channels The Five on Friday where she gave a wide ranging interview about the Supreme Court decision on health care on Thursday as well as her objections to health care reform legislation. Towards the end of the interview, Palin challenged ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos to call out President Barack Obama for lying to him in an interview where he famously claimed that the individual mandate in health care reform was not a tax. RELATED: Sarah Palin On ObamaCare Ruling: Obama Lies; Freedom Dies Co-host Eric Bolling asked Palin to weigh in on the broadly varying conservative reaction to the Supreme Courts verdict on health care reform. I can see both sides of this, said Palin. She said that there are conservatives who are understandably disappointed that the court did not overturn the health care law, while others might be saying right on, Supreme Court, thank you for concludi

On Fox: Sarah Palin Tends To Agree With The Term Treachery To Describe Todays Ruling

Image
video by Frances Martel | 10:49 pm, June 28th, 2012 Sarah Palin was in classic form today, declaring that the Supreme Courts decision today meant the death of freedom over Twitter. On On the Record tonight, she reiterated that sentiment to Greta Van Susteren , saying that she tend[s] to agree with those who call the ruling treachery. RELATED: Sarah Palin On ObamaCare Ruling: Obama Lies; Freedom Dies I received a lot of messages about this today the word treachery came up a lot, Palin told Van Susteren, adding that I tend to agree with that term used. Repeating several times that there is no such thing as a free lunch, she warned those who paid no taxes that if they think they are going to get a free ride, theyve got another thing coming. She argued that President Obama was succeeding in making America a fundamentally transformed country, from the moment the President began proposing and ramming it down our throats through [Rep. Nancy] Pelosi and [Sen. Harry] Reid. Palin also warned

Sarah Palin thanks God and Supreme Court for healthcare ruling

Sarah Palin thanked the Supreme Court and the Almighty this morning after the high court ruled in favor of President Obama s healthcare reform law. Why the contrarian reaction from a conservative who has railed against the law, and even pushed the long-debunked claim that bureaucratic death panels will make life-and-death decisions about the elderly and the disabled? In a word, politics. The former Alaska governor is making an entirely political calculation that the survival of the healthcare reform law will spell doom for Democrats in November. Thank you, SCOTUS, wrote Palin on her Facebook page. This Obamacare ruling fires up the troops as Americas eyes are opened. Thank God. Palin, who has not held office for three years but regularly appears on Fox News as a political commentator and is a favorite of tea party groups, seized on the Supreme Courts decision as proof that the Obama administration has curtailed personal liberty. Like many Obamacare opponents, she focused on the co

Sarah Palin: 'Obama Lies; Freedom Dies'

Thursday's controversial Supreme Court Health Care ruling has both Democrats and Republicans whipped into a frenzy. Below, we've compiled a sampling of reactions from both notable figures' and ordinary Americans' who took to the Twittersphere to express, in 140 characters or less, their opinions towards the court's decision on Obamacare. @sarahpalinusa Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor Obama lied to the American people. Again. He said it wasn't a tax. Obama lies; freedom dies. @patrickgaspard Patrick Gaspard, Executive Director, Democratic National Committee it's constitutional. Bitches. @nancypelosi Rep. Nancy Pelosi, U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Leader Millions of American families and children will have certainty of health care benefits + affordable care. @piersmorgan Piers Morgan, CNN host Still amazes me that a U.S. President can campaign for 32 million more Americans to get health care - and be pilloried for it. Orrin Hatch Won by Cultivating Sarah Palin

Image
By Mark Whittington | Yahoo! Contributor Network 3 hrs ago COMMENTARY | On the surface, Sen. Orrin Hatch , R-Utah, would seem to have been ripe for being overthrown by the tea party revolt, just like fellow Sen. Richard Lugar , R-In. He was venerable, institutional and had been in the Senate forever. But in Tuesday's primary, Hatch crushed his self-styled tea party opponent, former state Sen. Dan Liljenquis , according to the Associated Press . How was it the 78-year-old Hatch won when so many of his fellow politicians have lost or are in peril of loosing? The Deseret News cites a variety of factors, including Hatch's money and organization advantage and what it calls "fading tea party anger." Two years ago, Utah voters gave Robert Bennett the royal order of the boot. Something had clearly changed since 2010. It was Hatch, noting the end of Bennett's political career as a wake-up call. He tacked to the right, easy to do when the Senate is controlled by Democ

Palin revisits 'death panel' claims

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin renews her allegations that the health law creates death panels. Los Angeles Times : Sarah Palin's 'Death Panel' Claim Rises From The Grave It worked so well in 2009 as a way of marshaling opposition to President Obama's healthcare reform law that Sarah Palin has revived her widely debunked claim that the law will create "death panels" to determine which citizens are worthy of healthcare (Abcarian, 6/25). The Hill : Palin Revives 'Death Panels' Claim Ahead Of Supreme Court Decision Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Monday revived her inflammatory accusation that President Obama's healthcare law creates "death panels." Palin used her Facebook page to capitalize on the publicity surrounding the Supreme Court's upcoming healthcare decision. Sarah Palin Still Believes Obamacare Will Produce A Death Panel

Image
by Annie Pei | 1:39 pm, June 26th, 2012 Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin posted a Facebook note this morning to reiterate her Obamacare death panel claims, all in light of Thursdays Supreme Court ruling on the plan. - RELATED: Sarah Palin Responds to Her Death Panel Lie of the Year Award Referring back to her 2009 post on the subject , Palin restated that Obamacare did in fact create a panel of bureaucrats who have the power to make life and death decisions about health care funding. As the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost, argued Palin. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. She went on to argue that she saw her sons life in danger, and that Obamacare would produce an evil system: The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obamas deat

In a Facebook post Monday timed to take advantage of the widespread focus on the Supreme Courts expected ruling on the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act later this week, Palin wrote, I reiterate what I wrote in my first post on this topic nearly three years ago. I stand by everything I wrote in that warning to my fellow Americans because what was true then is true now, and it will remain true as we hear what the Supreme Court has to say. Bristol Palin trips up with viewers for reality show

Image
Reuters 1 hr 3 mins ago LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Bristol Palin tripped up with TV audiences after less than 750,000 people watched the first episode of her new reality show. Palin, who found fame in 2008 as the accidentally pregnant unmarried daughter of Republican conservative U.S. vice-presidential contender Sarah Palin , chronicled her life with her now three-year-old son Tripp in the Lifetime show "Life's a Tripp." But according to audience figures on Thursday, just 726,000 watched the show when it debuted on Wednesday. By contrast, some 3.3 million watched the latest installment of MTV's "Teen Mom" reality series on Wednesday. "Life's a Tripp" got unenthusiastic reviews from TV critics and proved no match with the U.S. public for the polarizing but charismatic Sarah Palin. The 2010 TV series "Sarah Palin's Alaska" attracted some five million viewers on its first outing, but was canceled after one season. (Reporting By Jill

Red States, Blue States, and Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp

Image
By reality TV standards Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp , which premiered Tuesday night on Lifetime, is pretty boring. Sure there are tears, screamingand not all of it coming from the title character's young son Tripp. Yet Bristol Palinwhose previous forays into reality television include Dancing With the Stars , Sarah Palin's Alaska, and, one could argue, the 2008 presidential campaignis no Teen Mom . The interactions seem scripted, her voice-overs drag on, and the overall plot arch is extremely predictable. While Bristol lacks her mother's charisma, the almost-vice-president's-daughter has no problem cashing in on the polarized America Sarah Palin has come to represent. [ Bristol Palin to Parlay Mom's Notoriety into Her Own TV Fame ] The first episode starts in Alaska, with Bristol recounting in the opening monologue her rise to fame as the pregnant, unmarried teenage daughter of John McCain's VP choice. Todd Palin, husband of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, will try the military life on the new "Stars Earn Stripes" reality competition show. ( David Zalubowski / Associated Press / June 20 , 2012 ) By Patrick Kevin Day June 20, 2012 , 10:30 a.m. "Stars Earn Stripes," NBC's upcoming summer reality competition show, just announced which celebrities will enter boot camp, and it's a typically eclectic lot. Most notably, Todd Palin , husband of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin , is in the mix. How many political junkies just set this thing up on the DVR? Like a military "Dancing With the Stars," the show pairs celebrities with current and former members of the armed forces as the Hollywood lightweights attempt to complete a series of challenges. And not just the thing where you run fast through a series of tires on the ground; this means helicopter drops and long-range weapons fire. Other celebrities on the show's first season include boxing champio

TV: Todd Palin to be on Stars Earn Stripes

Sarah Palins husband, Todd, is among those competing in NBCs new reality series Stars Earn Stripes, the network revealed Tuesday. This is not entirely surprising, given that SES exec producer Mark Burnett also exec-produced Sarahs TLC reality series Sarah Palins Alaska. And late last year, word around Hollywood was that Sarah and Burnett were pitching a reality series about Todds career as a championship snowmobile racer. Apparently, there were no takers.
