Sarah Palin: Obama Campaign Ad Twisted My Words
Sarah Palin is defending herself against a new Obama campaign ad, claiming that her controversial remarks about the president were taken out of context.
"Sarah Palin and the far right say President Obama will bring back racial discrimination ... against white people," the ad states, before splicing together clips from a recent interview Palin did with Fox Host Sean Hannity.
"And his profession as a community organizer -- what went into his thinking was this philosophy of radicalism he is bringing us back, Sean, to days that -- you can hearken back to days before the Civil War," Palin says in the ad. "What Barack Obama seems to want to do is go back to before those days when we were in different classes based on income, based on color of skin."
Palin fought back on her Facebook page on Monday, calling the ad "absurd" and charging that the Obama campaign had taken her comments out of context and "heavily edited" the quotes in order to distort their meaning.
Palin's Fox News interview focused on Obama's relationship with Harvard law professor Derrick Bell, but she touched on other topics as well, including Bill Maher's support for Obama. Palin suggested that the Obama ad makes it sound like she was speaking only about Bell.
Conservatives have long criticized Obama as a radical because of his relationship with Bell. A video surfaced last week showing Obama as a Harvard law student speaking at a rally in support of Bell and racial diversity on campus, which Republicans have ar! gued sho ws that Obama is biased against white people.
The Obama ad describes these comments as "wrong and dangerous."
