Selling 'Our Sarah'

COEUR d'ALENE - When Sarah Palin visited Coeur d'Alene on a book tour on Dec. 11, 2009, more than 1,000 people lined up to buy and have her sign copies of "Going Rogue."

Well guess what? No, Sarah isn't returning to the Lake City, at least not any time soon. But fans of the politician turned political analyst might be glad to hear her father and brother will be here next month.

And yep, they've got a book, too.

Chuck Heath Sr. and son Chuck Heath Jr. will be at the Coeur d'Alene Hastings store at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, to promote "Our Sarah: Made In Alaska" which hit store shelves Tuesday.

Three hundred copies of the book are en route to Hastings and are expected to arrive later this week, as a big crowd is expected for the visit of Palin's pa and sibling.

Chuck Heath has ties to North Idaho.

He grew up in Hope, east of Sandpoint on Lake Pend Oreille, graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1956 and taught at schools there in the early 1960s. His daughter was born in 1964 in Sandpoint, and the family moved to Alaska when she was an infant. Chuck Heath was later inducted into the Sandpoint High School Hall of Fame.

His daughter, who attended North Idaho College in 1983-84, was the first woman to be nominated by Republicans for vice president when she ran on the ticket with presidential candidate Sen. John McCain in 2008.

According to a press release, "Our Sarah" offers "intimate stories from Sarah's life along with a celebration of growing up in and sharing all that Alaska means to Sarah and her family.

"Sarah's dad and brother share great family stories of life in the last frontier - from hiking, camping, fishing, hunting and gold-mining, to marathon running, teaching and community service - first in small ways and then on a national stage. Structured around themes of family, faith, independence, resilience, character, risk-taking and adventure - here is a full and loving portrait of where Sarah P! alin came from and what made her the person she is today."
